WHAT’S THE STORY WITH UK CONSTRUCTION WEEK?

It’s dubbed the UK’s Biggest Construction Show – held at one of Europe’s largest conference and exhibition centres... But is it actually worth attending UK Construction Week (UKCW)...?

In a word - Yes.

Stay tuned for 'proper' insights from the show. But for now, here are our six ‘light-hearted’ takeaways from UKCW:

1) UKCW is impeccably organised. Hats off to the team – smooth communications from start to finish, easy registration, and slick check ins on seminars. It’s a relaxed vibe – which means it’s really easy to speak to anyone

2)    That said, the never-ending train strikes did of course affect attendance, with guests sharing details of valiant quests to get to and from London Excel. All getting a bit silly now, isn't it....

3)    Great to see support from several Central Government client departments - with their people engaging directly with SMEs. There was also good representation from main contractors like Skanska, industry associations, charities, and vendors

4)    As a business founder, it was a real highlight to meet The Apprentice contestants Harrison Jones and Michaela Wain.

5)    I award ‘Best Giveaway of the Show’ to Garolla, who make garage doors. Thank you to the kind chaps at the stand who gave me an excellent pen and notebook combo, which saved me when I filled mine up with notes

6)    …But the award for ‘Worst Lead Generation’ goes to the exhibitor (who shall remain nameless) who insisted on scanning my badge to keep contact because I had taken three Percy Pig sweets for an energy boost. To be honest though, in that moment, it was completely worth it.

Would we go again? You bet. See you there.
